Why connect smart devices to Alexa?

What Can Amazon Alexa Control

You likely already own several Alexa-compatible devices. Connecting these devices can make your life easier and more enjoyable.

The answer is simple: Convenience and ultimate control.

With Alexa, you can control your smart home devices using just your voice. For example, the command, “Alexa, lock the front door” means your front door is instantly locked and secured—without you ever leaving the couch.

At Richmond Alarm, we can take that convenience one step further, too.

When you install a home security system with a home automation package, you gain interactive services through Alarm.com. In the last few years, Alarm.com has collaborated with Amazon to allow Alexa to control multiple devices simultaneously using just one command.

Example commands:

  • “Alexa, tell Alarm.com to Sleep”
    • Doors lock, the set temperature drops, the security system is armed
  • “Alexa, tell Alarm.com to Wake Up”
    • Security system is disarmed, temperature rises and kitchen lights turn on

Crazy convenient, right?

But of course, the first step is to choose smart devices that:

  1. Meet your home automation needs
  2. Are compatible with Alexa

Since we partner with Alarm.com, we’ll show you several Alarm.com smart home devices that are compatible with Alexa.
